Course Structure
Are you interested in writing your thesis at LET-LAVUE ? You may find it beneficial to spend a year on the post-master’s programme in ‘Architectural Research’, which will provide you with theoretical and methodological training, inform you about the institutional workings of architectural research, and put you in touch with lecturers and researchers qualified to supervise research (HDR), who are the only ones authorised to enrol you on a PhD programme at a doctoral school. The post-master’s year can also help you refine your thesis topic and save time later on when securing funding and commencing your doctoral work.
LET is affiliated with the Abbé Grégoire Doctoral School at CNAM (ED 546). Two lecturers are authorised to supervise PhD students in 2026–2027 : Ioana Iosa and Jodelle Zetlaoui-Léger. Please familiarise yourself with their work and research topics and contact them with a thesis proposal that is as detailed as possible (4 or 5 pages). Depending on their availability and the relevance of your research project to their own work, they will enrol you under their supervision (possibly in partnership with another lecturer-researcher) or refer you to other HDR-qualified researchers who may be able to supervise you. Enrolment in a PhD programme entails participation in a number of courses offered by the Doctoral School.
As a PhD student at LET-LAVUE, you will be able to participate in the scientific consultation bodies of the LET-LAVUE team (the Executive Committee) and the UMR LAVUE (the Laboratory Council). Elections for PhD student representatives are held regularly. Doing a PhD at LET also means being part of the UMR LAVUE PhD student group.
